Basic First Aid and CPR C / A + AED

The short answer is - probably CPR C. You should choose CPR BLS if you're in healthcare or you're a professional first responder.

CPR C will train and certify you on Adult, Child, Infant, and 2-Person CPR plus AED use.

CPR A will only train and certify you on Adult-only CPR & AED use.

We offer Intermediate First Aid, Basic First Aid, CPR C, CPR BLS, and CPR A. These courses serve everyday people and trades that need certification.

CPR A focuses on adult CPR techniques, covering chest compressions, rescue breaths, choking, and AED use, but excludes child and infant training.

CPR C is more comprehensive, including CPR for adults, children, and infants, plus two-person CPR.

Most workplaces prefer or require CPR C over CPR A.

We recommend Intermediate First Aid.

Intermediate First Aid is longer and more complete. Most workplaces ask for it.

Basic First Aid is shorter. It covers fewer scenarios.

WSIB renamed these levels in 2026: Emergency First Aid is now Basic First Aid, and Standard First Aid is now Intermediate First Aid. Certificates issued under the old names stay valid until they expire.

Choose Intermediate First Aid unless you only need the shorter, lower-cost path for a minimum workplace rule.

No. WSIB has no approved online-only programs. Approved blended programs teach the theory online, then you show your skills in class with an instructor. That's how our blended courses work.

Yes. All first aid certificates issued up to June 21, 2026 stay valid until they expire. Emergency First Aid is now called Basic First Aid, and Standard First Aid is now called Intermediate First Aid.

Yes, if the training meets CSA Z1210 (the 2017 or 2024 edition). You can recertify it in Ontario before it expires.

With 5 or fewer workers per shift, you need Basic First Aid (8 hours). With 6 or more, you need Intermediate First Aid (16 hours).

Check WSIB's list of approved providers, or email WSIB. Approved providers and their affiliates must show the WSIB First Aid Program badge, and the QR code on an affiliate's badge links to the approved provider's affiliate list.

Typically, in many workplaces (but not all), the business pays for its first aiders, including wages during training. If training is a hiring requirement, the applicant pays.

First aid training now follows the CSA Z1210:24 standard. Two courses were renamed, Emergency to Basic and Standard to Intermediate, and approved providers now show a WSIB badge. Regulation 1101 itself did not change.

No. Advanced First Aid is not a workplace requirement in Ontario.
